TAXILA: A man drowned in Indus Rivernear Mullah Mansoor village in the limits of Attock Khurd police station on Friday,

Police and rescue sources sources said that Umer Farooq, 24, was bathing in the river when he went into deep waters and drowned.

Later, Rescue 1122 team retrieved his body and shifted it to District Headquarters Hospital Attock.

Police have registered a case and launched further investigation.

Meanwhile, a six-member kidnappers gang allegedly run by the members of Taxila police was busted and two men abducted for Rs5 million ransom were rescued successfully.

According to police sources, the racket was busted when a team of Peshawar police through digital intelligence traced the abductors and raided their hideout where they found two men handcuffed.

The sources said that the men identified as Noor and Yousaf, both belonging to Bajaur were abducted by the racket run by police officials.
