LAHORE:The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf claims that the police have lodged dozens of “fake” FIRs against hundreds of “unidentified people” in criminal and terrorism cases to harass PTI leaders and workers in days to come.

Some PTI workers arrested during Friday rallies, it is learnt, were released on court orders and the FIRs quashed on Saturday.

In a statement, PTI Punjab information secretary Shaukat Basra asked the chief minister to stop IG Dr Usman Anwar from committing excesses. He said the PTI was the country’s larges political party and would not tolerate victimisation through fake cases. He also demanded the party’s arrested workers should also be released and cases be quashed.

MULTAN: Punjab PTI president Hammad Azhar has dissolved the party’s Multan organisation, notified by regional president of South Punjab, following grievances received by senior party workers and leaders.

Mr Azhar issued a notification constituting a three-member committee for dispute resolution and to inquire into the matter. The committee members are: Malik Amir Dogar, Zain Hussain Qureshi and Barrister Taimoor Malik.

The notification says the committee shall carry out a wider stakeholder consultations for the purpose of appointment of the Multan chapter of the party and forward its recommendations to the provincial body within a week.
