LW crush Rawalpindi

ISLAMABAD, March 20: Lahore Whites (LH) thrashed Rawalpindi 4-0 on the third day of the National Hockey Championship (Islamabad Round) at the Naseer Bunda Stadium.

Rawalpindi could not cope with the onslaughts of Lahore who got their goals through Hasan Akhtar, Waqar, Sarfraz and Rizwan.

It was another day of high scoring matches in the championship that saw Lahore Colours (LC), Sargodha and Azad Kashmir also emerging victorious while Faisalabad and Mardan drew their match.

Lahore Colours downed Bannu 7-2, their goals coming from Zulfiqar (3) and Shafqat Rasul (2) with one each being put in by Shakeel Ahmed and Iftikhar.

Ehsanullah and Ilyas narrowed the margin for Bannu.

Winning by an identical 7-2 margin were Sargodha who swept past Hazara, thanks to two goals apiece by Adeel and Naseer.

Atif and Aamir Saleem notched up one each to complete the destruction. Hazara got both their goals through Inam.

In yet another game that produced a 7-2 scoreline, Azad Kashmir defeated Dera Ismail Khan with Waqas (3), Sohrab Aslam (2), Muhammad Masood (1) and Zubair Khan (1) being the scorers.

For the rivals, Faridullah and Laiq Ahmed shared two goals.

The only match of the day that was not one-sided was between Faisalabad and Mardan, a game that ended in a 4-4 draw.

Faisalabad goal scorers were Pervez (2), Jamil (1), Zeeshan (1) while for Mardan Fawad netted three times and Riaz banged in one.
