KARACHI: A woman was killed and nine others were injured when their fast-moving bus hit a footpath, two vehicles and overturned on Sharea Faisal near Karsaz late on Saturday night, police said on Sunday.

Bahadurabad SHO Mohammed Naeem Rajput said that a group of people in two cars and the bus were going to attend a wedding ceremony.

He said that apparently, the bus went out of the driver’s control, hit a footpath and two cars and overturned on the main road.

As a result, 10 people suffered injuries and they were taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre and Trauma Centre of the Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi where Nadia Saifuddin, 27, was pronounced dead.

Rescue-1122 spokesperson Hassaan Khan identified the nine other injured as Asifa, 27, Reshma, 50, Dua Ali, 20, Abdul Rahim, 12, Abdul Razzaq, 11, Mudassir Abbas, 2, Sonia Awais, 18, Kulsum Abbas, 25, and Nusrat Mukhtar, 55.

The area SHO said that none of them suffered life-threatening injuries. He said five of them were discharged after first aid.

The officer said that no one had so far approached the police for lodging an FIR.
