NORTH WAZIRISTAN: Seven people suffered injuries when unidentified assailants lobbed two hand grenades at a vehicle going in a convoy of security forces on Khaisore Road near Mirali town of North Waziristan district on Monday.
Official sources said that one grenade hit a security forces’ vehicle, while the other landed on a car — owned by a civilian contractor for transportation of daily commodities for the security forces.
The sources added that seven passers-by were injured in the explosion.
They stated that there was no casualty on the security forces’ side. However, both the vehicles were damaged in the attack. The attackers escaped the area after the incident.
A police contingent headed by the DSP circle reached the spot soon after receiving information about the incident, and shifted the injured people to the Mirali Hospital.
The injured people were identified as Eid Mali Khan, Sabirullah, Fazal Maula, Muradullah, Deen Faraz, Faizanullah and Murad.
The car damaged in the attack was owned by a local man, Naseeb Khan Eisori.
The police and security forces cordoned off the area and launched search for the attackers.
The police registered a case against unidentified assailants and started an investigation.
