TOBA TEK SINGH: Five persons, including two women and a child of the same family, were injured in the celebratory fire during a wedding at Sidhupura locality of Faisalabad on Monday night.

The incident happened when the wedding ceremony of one Dr Faras Fiaz was going on.

A police spokesperson said all the injured were asleep on the rooftop of their houses when they were hit by the bullets fired into the air by the suspects.

Those injured were identified as Noreen Nadeem (37), Asma Mohsin (40), Ali Abbas (12), Salman Dawood (17) and Nasir Tufail (20). All of them had been shifted to Allied hospital where the condition of Abbas was stated to be very serious.

Nine arrested, SHO suspended over the incident

Ghulam Muhammadabad police, led by the Lyallpur Division SP, arrested nine suspects for resorting to aerial firing during the wedding and seized a Kalashnikov, two guns, a 7mm rifle and a 9mm pistol along with hundreds of bullets from them.

CPO Kamran Adil suspended from service the Ghulam Muhammadabad SHO and Sidhupura police post in-charge over the incident.

ASPHYXIATED: A sanitary worker died while another fainted in the sewerage of a private housing scheme on the Sargodha Road, Faisalabad on Tuesday.

The workers were identified as Kaleemullah, 35, and Munir Ahmed, 44, employees of the City Housing Scheme. Both were residents of Khushab.

Rescue 1122 Kaleemullah first climbed into the manhole of the choked sewerage and lost consciousness due to poisonous gases.

Munir also jumped in to rescue him but he also fainted. Rescue 1122 was called but when the rescuers pulled Kaleemullah out he was already dead. Munir was shifted to Allied Hospital in serious condition.

KIDNAPPED: Four persons of a gypsy family of Okara kidnapped a young girl of their relatives near Chak 604-GB in Basti Kalyaran of Faisalabad.

Bahlak police said Sultan of Okara had a dispute with his relatives over the marriage issue of Mumtaz Bibi.

Sultan and his three accomplices came on a motorcycle-rickshaw and shot at injured Arzoo Bibi when she tried to rescue Mumtaz from the custody of kidnappers Sultan and his three accomplices.

The wounded woman was shifted to Tandlianwala THQ hospital.
