MANSEHRA: A man and his daughter died and three other members of the family sustained critical injuries when a gas cylinder exploded in the Lassan Nawab area of the district on Monday night.

Police said the head of the family, Mohammad Shimraz, 35, and his eight-year-old daughter, Rimshah Bibi, succumbed to their injuries in Ayub Medical Complex Hospital on Tuesday.

“All the five injured were rushed to hospitals in Abbottabad and Peshawar, where two of them succumbed to injuries,” an official of the Lassan Nawab police station said.

He said the family members were assembled in a room for having meal when the gas cylinder exploded and added that police lodged an FIR of the incident and started an investigation.

Meanwhile, a house was damaged after a tree fell over it in the Garhi Habibullah area.

Local residents said the tree was uprooted during a windstorm and fell on the house. No loss of life was reported as the family escaped before the tree could hit the ground.
