TAXILA: Commissioner Rawalpindi Division, Engineer Aamir Khattak on Tuesday chaired the district peace committee, district intelligence committee and district development committee to provide best services to people in the district.

The meeting highlighted the government’s focus on improving services and responding quickly to public needs.

The meeting also discussed public service delivery, development schemes, issues of cooperation and compliance from other agencies as well as holistic public service reforms through the legal framework to strengthen district government departments.

During the meeting, he instructed the officials to expedite the development schemes so that the public could get fruits of the public welfare projects, activation of the land records management information system, emphasising its importance for efficient public service.

He also urged all officers to prioritise the needs of citizens and ensure they had access to necessary facilities.

Mr Khattak said: “Collective duty is to serve the public, with the government entrusting them with the responsibility of ensuring the welfare and provision of essential services.” He also directed the price magistrates to further improve performance to provide relief to the citizens.

First priority of the administration was to bring the full benefit of the government subsidy to the people, Mr Khattak said adding, actions against hoarding and profiteering would continue without discrimination. Actions should be taken keeping in view the public complaints as well as the report of the Special Branch, the Commissioner added.

Deputy Commissioner Rao Atif Raza while briefing the commissioner said that the district administration Attock utilises the latest techniques to ease people’s lives. He added that the system would not only save their precious time but also keep them from the undue visits to government offices.

While presiding over a peace committee meeting, Mr Khattak urged for establishment of control rooms at all tehsils as well as district level for hassle free liaison between all government departments and prompt response to any untoward incident. Furthermore, the commissioner underscored the necessity of implementing enhanced security measures at Imambargahs, including security checks, walk-through gates, metal detectors, and the installation of CCTV cameras. “The activation and involvement of peace committees were emphasized as crucial components in upholding peace and tranquility”, he added.

He directed that before issuing the duty roster, the arrangements of the previous year should be critically reviewed and in the light of that, a better and organized plan should be made to ensure peace. He asked the assistant commissioners that they along with the religious scholars should hold the meetings of peace committees and District Intelligence Committees to ensure foolproof security during the holy month, he added.

He directed that along with ensuring peace and order during Muharram, all other arrangements should be finalized while all necessary arrangements for the participants at the places of the processions and the security of Imambargahs should be given top priority, the Commissioner directed.
