LAKKI MARWAT: An official of the counter-terrorism department (CTD) was martyred in a gun attack in Purdilkhel area of Bannu district on Wednesday.
Two motorcyclists attacked constable Zubair Khan on the Purdilkhel Road and fled, according to a police official.
He said the CTD official was posted to the North Waziristan tribal district and had come to Bannu – his hometown – on a “special duty.”
The body was taken to the police lines for funeral prayers after the completion of medico-legal formalities at the district headquarters hospital.

The funeral prayers were attended by commissioner Parweiz Sabatkhel, regional police officer Imran Shahid, deputy commissioner Shah Saud, district police officer Ziauddin Ahmad, other police officials, and relatives of the deceased.
The RPO said martyred policemen were the real heroes of the nation and their supreme sacrifices would be remembered forever.
“Such cowardly acts of militants can’t shake our [police’s] strong resolve to eliminate terrorism. We continue to be committed to this cause,” he said.
The police later sent the body to the deceased’s native village of Garerah Shah Jehan, where he was laid to rest with full official honour.
KILLED: A man killed his brother over a property dispute in the Osmankhel Adamzai area of Lakki Marwat district on Wednesday.
Amal Khan shot Noman dead inside their home and fled, their brother Hazrat Bilal told Tajori police.
He insisted he heard gunshots when he was present in the guestroom with some relatives.
“Noman told me before death that Amal attacked him,” he claimed.
Police said they were investigating the murder after booking Amal.
INJURED: A suspected robber was injured in an encounter with police in Baistkhel area of Lakki Marwat district on Wednesday.
A police official said three armed men attacked officials of the Serai Gambila police station after spotting them around their hideout in the rural area.
He added that police returned fire, injuring suspect Amjad, a resident of Karak district, injured, while his accomplices escaped.
The official said the detainee, who was wanted in robberies and street crimes, was shifted to the district headquarters hospital in Tajazai area.
He said the police also seized arms and ammunition and registered a case against the detainee.
