SWABI: The police claimed to have recovered a teenage boy and arrested his three abductors during a raid in Budh Serai area of Mardan on Wednesday.

SHO Yar Hussain police station Farooq Khan said on June 21 Ghulam Nabi of Yar Hussain village had filed an FIR, stating that his son, Hasnain Khan, 17, was taken away by people riding a car.

Mr Farooq said district police officer Haroon Rasheed Khan had directed the immediate recovery of the boy and arrest of his abductors.

He said a team led by DSP Chota Lahor and himself started search for the abducted youngster. He said the police traced the accused and raided their hideout in Budh Serai area of Mardan. He said the police arrested Haqdar Ali of Sard Cheena, Abu Bakr and Hazrat Ali of Ismaila village of Swabi and recovered the abducted boy.

He said the car and the pistol used in the crime were seized, and cases were registered against the accused.

The SHO said the police continued search for the arrest of another co-accused in the case, Luqman alias Jani of Budh Serai, Mardan.

Speaking at a function on Wednesday, press club president Jalil Ahmad Khan said efforts of journalists, officials of the provincial information department, CM’s adviser on industries Abdul Karim Khan, former National Assembly speaker Asad Qaiser, former provincial minister Shahram Khan Tarakai, current ministers Aqibullah Khan, Faisal Khan Tarakai and MPA Rangaiz Ahmed resulted in the registration of the press club.
