NAROWAL: The District Health Authority chief executive officer (CEO) has ordered an inquiry into the death of a woman at the district headquarters hospital (DHQ), allegedly due to non-provision of oxygen on Thursday.

According to Aftab Ahmed, his relative Yasmeen Bibi (45), a resident of Kanwalpur village of Shakargarh tehsil was admitted to the emergency ward of DHQ hospital on June 26 with brain hemorrhage.

He said that after initial provision of oxygen to the patient, Dr Faisal referred her to the female medical ward where oxygen was not available.

He also alleged that the staff nurse on duty refused to admit the patient in the ward saying no bed was available there.

He said that on the refusal of the staff nurse, he again went to the doctor in the emergency ward who said he could do nothing.

Meanwhile, he said, the patient died due to non-provision of oxygen.The victim’s family strongly protested against the apathy of the doctor of the emergency ward and the staff nurse of the medical ward.

DHA CEO Dr Naveed Haider ordered an inquiry into the incident.
