LAHORE / GUJRAT: Qaisera Elahi, the wife of former Punjab chief minister and PTI president Chaudhry Parvez Elahi, has rejected reports of family reconciliation.

She said PML-Q chief Chaudhary Shujaat Hussain had no role in the release of her spouse.

“We did not have any kind of family reconciliation, all these things are based on lies,” she said in a statement issued here on Thursday in response to reports of a reconciliatory meeting between Shujaat and Parvez Elahi.

Earlier in the day, a PML-Q spokesman claimed that Parvez Elahi had met Shujaat at his residence in Lahore. Without mentioning when the meeting took place, the spokesman claimed that both Chaudhrys had agreed to reunite the family, but every one would be free to pursue his political career.

Qaisera Elahi said the courts had dispensed justice to Parvez Elahi and her husband had given a clear message to Chaudhary Shujaat that there would be no discussion between both families until the stolen mandate was returned.

“Parvez Elahi is neither ready to join the PML-Q now nor in future because it has been reduced to a party standing on crutches of stolen mandate. No sane person will like to become even a member of PML-Q.”

When contacted, Chaudhry Moonis Elahi told Dawn that no formal meeting was held between both Chaudhrys as Mr Elahi had met Shujaat Hussain for a few minutes after he returned home after getting released on court orders.

“Since they could not break him in jail, the Shujaat family’s latest strategy was to spoil him within the PTI,” Moonis Elahi explained.
