MANSEHRA: Two Afghan nationals were killed and 12 other people were injured when a car collided head-on with a passenger van on the Hazara Expressway’s Shatay interchange here on Friday.

Amir Khadam, an official of Rescue 1122, told reporters that the car carrying an Afghan family was on its way to Dodial from College Doraha area when an oncoming passenger van collided with it on the Hazara Expressway, leaving 14 people from both the vehicles seriously injured.

The official said that rescue ambulances shifted the injured to the King Abdullah Teaching Hospital, where doctors pronounced two Afghan nationals – Zorwalli Khan and Ali Khan – dead.

He said that five of the injured were referred to Ayub Medical Complex Hospital, Abbottabad, in critical condition.

The bodies were handed over to families following completion of medico-legal formalities at the hospital.

The police after lodging FIR of the incident started an investigation.
