CHINIOT: The Chiniot city police arrested a junkyard trader in Gulsitan Colony for torturing a 12-year-old boy of Satellite Town, after accusing him of stealing valuables from his shop.

Muhammad Abdullah had gone to the shop of Fahad to sell some rotten bread pieces. When he was returning home, the trader chased and caught him, torturing him with punches, kicks, slaps, and shoes.

The police registered an FIR under sections 342, 506, and 355 of the Pakistan Penal Code and arrested the trader after a video of the incident went viral.

CRACKDOWN: On the directions of Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Asif Raza, the district health authority has increased vigilance against illegal medical stores, clinics, and shops selling spurious drugs.

Nine premises have been sealed, and three quackery cases have been sent to drug courts. Three accused have been issued warnings, and detailed reports have been sought for the remaining three cases.

The District Quality Control Board, headed by Additional Deputy Commissioner Talha Saeed, stopped quacks and medical store owners from selling spurious drugs. Medical store owners were told to abide by their license conditions or face legal action.

Drug inspectors have been directed to intensify their vigilance, and the public is urged to report illegal health treatment centers to the district administration immediately.
