SUKKUR: A police head constable was martyred, his one colleague was wounded and another one was abducted by dacoits who stormed the Mubarak Lakhan check-post within the limits of the Aandal Sundrani police station of Ghotki district on Friday evening.

Reports from the area suggested that a heavily armed gang of dacoits opened an indiscriminate fire on the check-post killing the head constable Saheb Dino on the spot and wounding constable Syed Ismail Shah.

They then came close to the post and overpowered a third policeman, Abdul Fatah Sangi to take him away towards the nearby gang-infested riverine area.

Ghotki SSP Sumair Noor Channa, lead a strong contingent of police drawn from different police stations, cordoned off the area to start a combing up operation.

Rangers personnel provided security cover to the police, who chased the dacoits. It was claimed that the dacoits engaged the security forces in an encounter but had to abandon constable Sangi. They, however, managed to escape to their hideout in deep riverine area.
