Man opens fire in Faisalabad court, injures three

TOBA TEK SINGH: A man opened indiscriminate fire on his opponents in the district and sessions court complex in Faisalabad on Wednesday, critically injuring two men and a lawyer.

The injured, identified as Tariq Mahmood (24) of Chak 244-RB, Kareem Hashmi of Sindh, and lawyer Malik Aurangzeb, were shifted to Allied Hospital.

CCTV footage shows the three victims walking near the canteen when the suspect, who had concealed a gun in a cloth, suddenly ran in from the outer gate and fled to the other side of the complex after the shooting. Suspect Muhammad Afzaal was arrested.

Suspended

The Punjab Local Government and Community Development Department secretary suspended Jhang district council chief officer Adil Shahzad Ranjha from service.

The suspension order states that he was suspended under section 6 of the Peeda Act, charged with inefficiency, misconduct, and failing to submit a timely report on the Punjab Municipal Development Fund Company dashboard.

He has been directed to report to the provincial headquarters.

Accident

Two motorcyclists died in separate accidents in Faisalabad on Wednesday.

According to a Rescue 1122 report, a truck hit a biker identified as Abdul Rahman (40) on Jaranwala Road near Chak 65 GB, critically injuring him.

He died instantly, while his pillion rider, Mushtaq Ahmad, who also sustained serious injuries, was shifted to Jaranwala THQ Hospital.

They were on their way to their hometown Okara from Faisalabad.

In another incident at Jaranwala on Nankana Sahib Road near the Panj Pulian bus stop, a tractor-trolley ran over a biker, resulting in his instant death. He was identified as Hammad Sarwar (14).
