Official visit

South Punjab Secretary (Canals) Ijaz Khaliq Razzaqi on Wednesday visited Taunsa barrage in Dera Ghazi Khan zone and reviewed the ongoing development works there.

He was briefed by the officials. The secretary also visited Surilund and Sanghar mountain drains and reviewed the measures taken to prevent the expected floods.

In this regard, necessary instructions were issued to the officers present on the spot.

The secretary said timely evacuation of the population of sensitive places and low-lying areas should be ensured so that life and property can be secured. Weak embankments should be strengthened by ensuring sanitation.

The natural channels of rivers and mountains should be cleared of obstructions and encroachments so that the flood water can have a safe path to the river.

He said that negligence and lack of interest in duties would not be tolerated.
