PESHAWAR: The sixty-third meeting of the executive committee of the senior alumni association of Islamia College Peshawar (ICP) has decided to hold the general body meeting of the association on Nov 23 this year.

A statement issued here said that the committee meeting, chaired by the association president Mohammad Zaman Khan, unanimously decided to convene the general body and also discussed preparations and other arrangements in this regard.

Professor Dr Mohammad Ali Yousufzai, Vice-Chancellor of Islamia College, and Professor Nasrullah Khan Yousafzai, Chairman of Peshawar’s Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, were special guests on the occasion.

Vice-Chancellor Dr Mohammad Ali updated the alumni cabinet committee on the college’s ongoing and prospective development projects.

He informed the meeting that the administration was making every effort to improve the college’s financial flows.

Dr Ali said that a variety of development projects, including a solarisation projection in partnership with the High Education Commission, would assist the college cut its power bills.

He also outlined other programmes aimed at improving the college’s academic and extra-curricular activities.

The vice-chancellor urged the alumni cabinet to use their contacts to fix the college’s long-awaited property rental difficulties. The college receives fairly low rentals from these assets, but rents in the private sector have increased significantly in recent years. He urged the alumni to assist the college in recovering properties from illegal occupations, while also increasing monthly rental incomes.

The vice-chancellor also praised the alumni for their contributions in promoting the college’s image and providing scholarships to deserving students.

Meanwhile, Vice-Chancellor Muhammad Ali has bestowed the honorary title of “Baba-i-Islamia College” on Mohammad Zaman Khan in recognition of his contributions to the welfare of the college.

Chairman of Peshawar’s Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Nasrullah Khan Yousafzai also lauded the contributions of the alumni in resolving the issues, being faced by the college, and playing a proactive role in the development of the institution.

The meeting was attended by association treasurer Shahin Shah, Information Secretary Mubarak Zeb Khan, and executive body members Arbab Azhar, Ajmal Khan, Aurangzeb Khalil, Pir Mohammad, Prof Saeed Khan, and Ijaz Hussain. Mohammad Hassan Wazir, an Islamian alumni serving as Pakistan’s high commissioner to Uganda, also attended the meeting.
