LAHORE: Armed robbers deprived families of cash and valuables, targeting several houses in various parts of the provincial capital.

Complainant Ramzan, an overseas Pakistani, who is now a days visiting his family in Sundar area, told police that he went to the market to fetch breakfast around 10:30am. When he returned, he found a man outside his house, who suddenly attacked him with an iron rod and overpowered him.

Ramzan said the man dragged him inside his house, where his two accomplices had already held his father and mother hostage at gunpoint in the kitchen, while another gunman was present in a room.

He said the robbers took all his family members hostage at gunpoint, collected 30,000 Saudi Riyals, eight tola gold ornaments, laptops, mobile phones and other valuables worth over Rs5 million and fled away.

Before leaving the house, the robbers also tortured and injured him and his father for offering resistance, the complainant said.

In another incident, robbers looted the house of Rameez Ahmad in Mustafaabad, taking away Rs250,000 the other day.

Similarly, armed robbers deprived the family of Ahsan Ullah Shad in Chuhng area, looted cash, gold ornaments and other valuables worth over Rs220,000 and fled away.

In Mozang, armed robbers entered the house of Hassan Ijaz and took away valuables and cash all worth over Rs210,000.

Robbers also looted gold ornaments and other valuables worth over Rs170,000 from the house of one Tasir Ahmad in Kotlakhpat, Rs140,000 from the house of Ghulam Shabbir in Ichhra and Rs110,000 from the house of Babar Nawaz in Barki area.
