MULTAN, March 22: President Gen Pervez Musharraf will inaugurate the campus of Multan Women University here in the first week of the next month. This was stated by DCO Iftikhar Babar at the opening ceremony of courts of tennis and badminton at the Chenab Club.

The president had announced last year at a public meeting here that a women’s university would be set up in Multan.

The DCO said a proposal for establishment of a university of engineering and technology in Multan had also been approved. “Even a site for the engineering university has been selected at Chak 14 Faiz,” he added.

He said a site for creation of a 50-acre safari zoo had also been chosen at the Nag Shah Chowk on the Multan-Muzaffargarh Road.

The district administration had been giving special attention to rehabilitation and renovation of Sheesh Mahal Club and Chenab Club.

A PML leader and former provincial health minister, Iqbal Khan Khakwani, said he would soon present a plant to the chief minister to raise the status of Chenab Club to that of Lahore Gymkhana and Chenab Club, Faisalabad.
