THIS is with reference to the editorial ‘Unyielding onslaught’ (June 12). We are developing almost all kinds of weapons, from tank to needle, with the help of our Chinese friends. How come we do not have the drones that can be used for reconnaissance and other purposes? With the use of drones, we could have avoided incidents in which we have lost thousands of our soldiers and civilians. Likewise, how come we do not have night vision goggles that we can use to locate and follow the enemies in the night and combat them effectively?

Also, regarding the Chinese bus attack at Bisham, is it not possible to get the Chinese help in talking with the Afghan Taliban regarding their support to the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP)? After all, the Chinese are investing billions of dollars in Afghanistan, and are in a much better position than us in exerting some level of pressure on the Afghan government.

It is really amazing how Afghan Taliban continue their double standards with Pakistan and China; doing trade and getting all due and undue benefits, while killing both Pakistanis and the Chinese.
