Do you think Knuckles is equally popular if compared with Sonic The Hedgehog? Many of you even rate Knuckles better than Sonic, and Season 1 of Sonic’s Frenemy proves it.

The six-episode season picks up where the Sonic the Hedgehog 2 movie left off. The warrior echidna, temporarily settled in Green Hills with Sonic and Tails, is searching for a thrill.

Idris Elba reprises his role as the voice of Knuckles the Echidna in the action-adventure series while Adam Pally is back as a dim-witted deputy sheriff. Like Sonic, Knuckles takes Deputy Wade Whipple, Tom’s friend from the movies, under his wing. Wade, a man-child, was kicked out of his team for the bowling competition and became the perfect counterpoint to the stoic Knuckles.

Throughout the season, the beloved Echidna teaches deputy Wade Whipple the techniques of the Echidna warrior. There is a reason for it, as for Knuckles to stay back on Earth and make it his home, is necessary to fulfil the condition.

Knuckles is unaware that The Buyer is out there, who is revealed as a former lackey of Jim Carrey’s Doctor Robotnik — no point in guessing why The Buyer desires Knuckles’ power. Rory was once a G.U.N. agent (Guardians Unit of Nations), but now is searching for Knuckles’ power. He falls short as compared to the hilarious Jim Carrey’s Doctor ‘Eggman’ Robotnik and the only thing good about his character is his appearance. A tall, bulky, and muscular man with peach skin, and grey hair connected to his beard and moustache, he wears a greyish black sleeveless t-shirt and brown work overalls.

There is plenty of action, and with two former G.U.N agents — Kid Cudi and Ellie Taylor on trial — things get tacky. Both agents take Knuckles and Wade to Reno, where a bowling tournament is being held. With a Knuckle-centric story, you would get to travel around the USA. Whipple has to meet his estranged father, and that’s the reason for the tournament.

A spinoff of the Sonic and the Hedgehog movies, Knuckles nails what made Sonic and Sonic 2 so great. Both the characters are running from the law, searching for their dreams and eventually teaming together to fight their way out.

The series carries a happy feeling and makes one believe that everyone is capable of greatness. The series would make one believe that the love of friends and family has no bounds. Watch it before the third Sonic movie, coming out in December.
