TAXILA: Three persons, including two siblings, drowned in separate incidents in Attock district on Sunday, police and rescue officials said.

In the first incident, two sisters died after drowning in a stream in Kohliya village in the limits of Hassanabdal police station.

Quoting witnesses and family members, the police said Minahil, 8, and her younger sister Nabiya, 5, were returning home from a mosque where they took Quran lessons.

As they were passing through a stream, Nabiya slipped and started drowning. On seeing her sister in distress, Minahil also jumped into the water to save her but drowned as well.

Later local volunteers fished out their bodies and shifted them to a hospital.

Meanwhile, the body of a man, who drowned in Ghazi Barotha Lake, was retrieved on Sunday.

Police sources said Adnan Khan went to the water channel for bathing where he drowned.

Later his body was spotted in the lake and the Rescue 1122 team arrived at the spot and retrieved it.
