RAWALPINDI: Punjab police chief Dr Usman Anwar has ordered the evaluation of the police facilitation centres across the province and assigned at least 15 senior officers to conduct special inspections of the service delivery initiatives to take stock of their performance.

The senior officers deputed to conduct the special inspection included the Elite Police Force Punjab deputy director administration, the CIA Faisalabad SP, the Lahore Technical Special Branch SP, and the Scientific Training Wing Police College Sihala SP.

Similarly, Special Branch Rawalpindi SSP Fazal-i-Hamid has also been asked to conduct a special inspection of the police facilitation centres, including Police Khidmat Markaz, Police Tahaffuz Markaz, traffic offices, and special initiative police stations (SIPS), and furnish a report to the office of the AIG Inspections at Central Police Office Lahore within 10 days.

The special inspection aims to evaluate the performance/efficiency of police and their attitude towards the general public and whether the police were able to strip away the unnecessary barriers people faced while visiting the police stations.

The Punjab police have fixed certain criteria for evaluating the effectiveness of these public service delivery units, such as proper utilisation of the IT equipment, conduct and discipline of the staff, timeline of service delivery, quality and level of service delivery, feedback, and expenditures.

The IGP has decided to conduct special inspections for all the initiatives taken by the Punjab police in order to monitor the implementation as per the SOPs and guidelines issued by the Central Police Office.

The officers asked to review these centres have also been issued guidelines and instructions for carrying out the inspection. During the inspection, the total strength of Khidmat Markaz staff, the condition of the building, and other functions will also be evaluated.

Moreover, the officers will also check whether or not the counters for the learner’s driving licence, renewal of driving licence, international driving licence, and application for registration of FIR are functional. The officers will also check the expenses incurred and the amount earned by these centres in the previous fiscal year. The officers will also record the feedback of visitors regarding their complaints.

They will also check if relevant equipment and staff were present at the centres or not. Each officer has been allotted one district and asked to furnish a report within 10 days and send it to the CPO Lahore.

IGP Usman Anwar in a statement said that the Khidmat centres were an excellent project for public service delivery and that their performance would be further enhanced with the addition of new features.
