MANSEHRA: A couple from Lahore died and three children sustained injuries when the car they were travelling in fell into a ravine in the Lolusar Lake area of upper Kaghan Valley here on Sunday.

“Speeding caused the accident,” Dr Ali, head of the basic health unit in Naran, told reporters.

He said that the car carrying the tourist family was on its way back to Lahore from Babusar Top when the driver lost control over the vehicle, skidding it off the Mansehra-Naran-Jalkhad Road and plunging into a deep ravine.

Rescue 1122 teams rushed to the spot, retrieved the bodies and the injured to the Naran BHU.

The deceased were identified as Naveed Ahmad and his wife, Nadia Naveed.

Dr Ali said that the three injured children were referred to King Abdullah Teaching Hospital. He said tourists coming to Kaghan Valley and other hill stations should be cautious and never indulge in rash driving.

Mohammad Farooq, an office-bearer of the hoteliers association in Kaghan Valley, said the visitors should avoid speeding and moving closer to Kunhar River,” he said.

The bodies were dispatched to Lahore in an ambulance from King Abdullah Teaching Hospital.
