RAWALPINDI: Girl students from Talagang and Fatehjang grabbed the three top positionsin the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) annual examination 2024.

The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Rawalpindi announcedthe names of the position holders on Monday. However, the results of other students will be announcedon Tuesday (today) at a function to be held at Fatima Jinnah Women University.

In 2019, the then PTI government had stopped all boards from announcing the top three positions on the ground that it hurt the students who could not clinch positions with a few marks.

However, BISE Rawalpindi spokesman Arslan Cheema told Dawn that the policy had now been changed and the government decided to encourage students who performed better so that others could be motivated to work hard.

He said that last year boards across the province did not announce the names of top three position holders, but later the caretaker government held a function at the Chief Minister House to award the position holders.

Now, he said, the names of the position holders have been announced and given awards. The first and second positions were clinched by two students from Talagang while the third position was grabbed by a student from Fatehjang.
