LAHORE: The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Lahore on Tuesday announced the result of matriculation annual examination-2024 with an overall success percentage of 69.75 as 250,227 students appeared and 174,537 got through the examination.

The results of the secondary school certificate (SSC) exam were unveiled during a ceremony at Aiwan-i-Quaid-i-Azam, presided over by Punjab Minister for School and Higher Education Rana Sikandar Hayat.

Lahore Commissioner/BISE Chairman Zaid bin Maqsood, Secretary Higher Education Department (HED) Dr Farrukh Naveed, position holders, their parents, CEOs of education and others were present.

A total of 195,016 students, both regular and private, appeared in the science group, with 144,135 passing, achieving a success rate of 73.91 per cent. In the humanities group, 55,211 students appeared, with 30,402 passing, resulting in a 55.07 pass rate.Muhammad Ayan Kashif emerged as the overall top scorer in the Lahore division and science group, securing 1,190 marks. The second position in the science group was jointly held by Muiz Haider and Maheen Sajjad, both scoring 1,186 marks. Four students Abeera Asghar, Ubaidullah Usman, Zainab Asif, and Sehar Shakeel shared the third position, each with 1,186 marks.

Overall pass percentage in Multan stands at 78.6; govt schools secure top positions in five out of nine boards

In the arts group, Ghulam Hamayoun Din secured the first position among boys with 1,073 marks, followed by Ehteshamul Haq and Muhammad Farhan in second and third positions, respectively.

The minister praised the transparency of the examination process and highlighted the Punjab government’s commitment to revolutionary programmes encouraging students.

He emphasised that all boards across Punjab would fully support students who showed outstanding performance.

“Students are our future, and their excellent performance heralds a bright future,” said Commissioner Lahore Zaid bin Maqsood, commending the students, their parents, teachers, and educational institutions for their commendable efforts.

The top position holder, Ayan Kashif, was awarded a laptop, a gold medal, and a certificate of appreciation. All other position holders received medals and certificates of appreciation. The arrangements made by BISE Secretary Dr. Bushra were also appreciated.

BISE Controller of Examinations Muhammad Zahid Mian presented the statistics on the transparency and results, underscoring the diligent efforts behind the scenes to ensure fairness and accuracy.

At Punjab University Model High School for Girls, Shiza Fatima secured first position in the school with 1,134 marks, Iqra Tariq obtained stood second with 1,110 marks, and Mamona Nawaz clinched third position with 1,050 marks.

Out of 24 students, eight achieved A+ grades, contributing to a 96pc success rate. Principal Uzma Abid congratulated the students for their significant success.

Earlier, during a press conference with Punjab Information Minister Azma Zahid Bukhari, Minister for School and Higher Education Rana Sikandar Hayat announced improvements in government schools, claiming they have outperformed private schools in the matriculation examinations.

He said 270 cheating centres were identified and eliminated, and a zero tolerance policy was adopted for the inter exams. Government schools have secured top positions in five out of nine educational boards, marking a significant achievement for public education in Punjab.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has allocated awards totaling Rs250 million for top performing students.

Minister Hayat emphasised the success of the Danish School, countering its critics and reaffirming the government’s commitment to transforming government schools into quality institutions.

The minister also addressed the shortage of teachers, which has been reduced from 180,000 to 38,000, with plans to eliminate the deficit entirely within three months. Additionally, 2,000 hidden posts in the School Information app have been uncovered. He assured that the e-transfer policy would be free from bribery or favouritism.

A foundational learning programme has been launched in south Punjab for 150,000 children, offering three-month technical courses to equip students with self-sufficiency skills.

Responding to media queries, Minister Hayat highlighted that permanent vice chancellors are being appointed through a merit-based selection process, and past irregularities within university syndicates are being audited.

The education minister concluded by asserting that private schools must comply with new policies, ensuring a fair and standardised education system across Punjab.

BISE MULTAN: The Multan board also announced the results of the annual matriculation examination 2024.

A total of 125,896 candidates appeared in the exam, out of whom 98,955 passed and 26,941 failed, making the overall pass percentage 78.60.

In the science group, 113,666 candidates participated, with 90,834 successfully passing and 22,832 failing, resulting in a pass percentage of 79.91.

In the humanities group, 12,069 candidates appeared, with 7,967 passing and 4,102 failing, resulting in a pass percentage of 66.01.

Among the candidates with hearing and speech impairments, 161 appeared for the exam, with 154 passing and 7 failing, resulting in a remarkable pass percentage of 95.65.

The detailed results also revealed that out of the 98,955 successful candidates, 19,692 achieved A+ grade. Additionally, 19,961 candidates received A grade, 26,938 received B, 25,206 (C), 6,946 (D), and 199 received F grade. Furthermore, 13 candidates got satisfactory grade.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has congratulated the students who secured top positions in the matric exams.

DERA GHAZI KHAN: The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education of Dera Ghazi Khan announced the results of the 2024 matriculation annual examinations on Tuesday. Commissioner and Chairman of the Education Board Dr Nasir Mahmood Bashir announced the names of the position holders.

Maria Bint Abdul Rehman Shah of Faiz Aam Science Girls Secondary School, Karam Dad Qureshi, Muzaffargarh, secured first position with 1,187. Sadra Zia of Government Girls High School Basti Qazi, Layyah, and Anshal Fatima of Center of Excellence Girls Dera Ghazi Khan jointly secured second position with 1,186 marks. Muhammad Umeer of Garrison Public High School of Kot Sultan, Layyah, Abiha Zainab of Government Girls High School No 1 of Jampur, Rajanpur and Alina Asif Qureshi of Faiz Aam Science Girls Secondary School, Karam Dad Qureshi, Muzaffargarh, jointly secured third position with 1185 marks.

The overall success rate in the exams was 82.38%. Among the students, 37,010 female students passed, with a success rate of 87.17%, while 39,795 male students were successful, with a success rate of 78.38%. In the science group, 39,352 students passed, representing 78.90%, and 49.72% of 433 students from the general group were successful. Secretary of the Board Abdul Rahman Chaudhry, Controller of Examinations Muzaffar Hussain, and others were also present on this occasion.

BAHAWALPUR: Up to 71,892 candidates, of 95,240, passed.
