PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur has directed to extend Bus Rapid Transit service from Chamkani to Pabbi area of Nowshera in order to facilitate the general public with quality transport facility.

He also directed to declare Ring Road from Chamkani to Hayatabad as BRT route for starting modern bus service on it with the aim to facilitate the commuters in the vicinity of the provincial capital.

The chief minister issued the directives while chairing the 16th board meeting of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Urban Mobility Authority, according to a statement issued here on Wednesday.

The forum was also briefed about the urban mobility plans for divisional headquarters.

The chief minister directed the transport department to come up with solid proposals for starting electric bus service in the urban areas of all the divisional headquarters after consultations with all the relevant stakeholders.

The forum also decided to extend fare exemption to children up to five years of age traveling with their parents in BRT buses.

The chief minister said his government was committed to developing transport system of the province on modern lines, and directed the authorities concerned to take measures for improving service delivery.

He also directed ensuring availability of all the required facilities to citizens at bus stands.
