ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has generated record revenue of Rs52 billion in the fiscal year 2023-2024 which is the highest revenue collection in the civic body’s history.

The CDA Chairman Mohammad Ali Randhawa in May and June, CDA collected Rs7.9 billion.

He said that earlier the highest revenue of CDA was Rs47.6 billion in fiscal year 2021-2022, while the target for fiscal year 2023-24 was set at Rs41.8 billion. However, through effective strategies, CDA surpassed its target by 23pc. He highlighted that instead of selling assets, the authority was focusing on alternative revenue sources to make it a financially stable organisation.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi congratulated CDA Chairman Mohammad Ali Randhawa and his team on achieving the record revenue target.

He said during the last two months the CDA team had worked with dedication and commitment to achieve the target.

He expressed the hope that the authority will continue to focus on revenue generation with the same zeal in the current fiscal year.

Meanwhile, Mohsin Naqvi on Wednesday directed CDA Chairman Mohammad Ali Randhawa to ensure swift drainage of water from the low-lying areas following rain.

He directed him to utilise all resources to drain water from the streets.

He also instructed police to ensure the smooth flow of traffic.

On the minister’s directives, Mr Randhawa visited various locations to review drainage work and directed CDA, MCI and district administration officials to remain in the field until the drainage work is completed. According to the CDA administration, citizens can contact helpline numbers in case of any emergency situation.
