LAKKI MARWAT: Unknown armed men shot dead a teenage boy in Khulikhel area near Serai Naurang town of Lakki Marwat district, the police on Friday.

They said Murtaza Khan, 21 and his brother, Farooq Khan, 18, were attacked by armed men when they were going to a relative’s house.

They said Farooq died on the spot.

Murtaza, who remained unhurt in the attack, told the police that the attackers fled the scene after the murder. He said his family had no enmity with anyone.

The police shifted the body to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, Serai Naurang, for autopsy.

Shaheed Asmatullah Khan Khattak police station registered a case.

Separately, a young man was shot dead over a murder enmity in Bannu district on Friday.

The murder took place in the limits of Ghoriwala police station.

Police said Yar Mohammad, 35, and his brother, Afnan, 27, were going to a court on a motorcycle in connection with the hearing of a case. They said when they reached near a seminary on the Bannu-DI Khan Road two motorcyclists pulled up in front of them and one of them, identified as Sadam, opened fire with a pistol, killing Afnan on the spot.

The police said the body was taken to the District Headquarters Hospital to complete medico-legal formalities.

The police registered a case against the attacker and his accomplice, Inam, and began making efforts to arrest them.

DISMISSED: Lakki Marwat district police officer Taimur Khan has dismissed a constable and demoted two head constables after allegations that they had links with criminals and drug barons proved against them during a departmental inquiry.

An official said on Friday constable Syed Rehman, who was posted to Azadkhel police station in Bitanni subdivision, was suspended over a month ago.

He said the inquiry officer recommended imposing major penalty of dismissal from service on Rehman.

The official said during the inquiry two head constables –Mohammad Alam and Wahidullah – were also found guilty and demoted to the constable rank.

The official said Aadkhel police station SHO Ismail Khan also faced the penalty of stoppage of one increment for one year.
