DAUDPOTA LIBRARY: The Daudpota Library in Hyderabad’s Qasimabad area lacks several basic facilities, such as seating arrangement and clean drinking water. The students are unable to study due to severe loadshedding. There is no power backup that leaves them exhausted in the current hot weather. The library urgently needs water coolers, solar panels and more than 10 air-conditioners to keep it meaningfully functional. The authorities should take steps to ensure the provision of such facilities.

A TEACHER’S COMPLAINT: This is with reference to the letter ‘A sign of times’ (July 5). I would like to suggest that the writer should take up the issue of a student using a threatening tone against her with the vice-chancellor of the relevant university. Moreover, she should also approach the Cyber Crime Cell of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).

TROUBLEMAKERS: Underage driving is a big problem in Pakistan, with children aged 10-17 years driving cars and motorbikes casually on the road. These children are not properly trained, and carry no driving licence owing to their underage status. They put their own lives in danger, and also create a nuisance for others on the roads. To control this illegal act, the police must take strict action against underage drivers and check drivers’ CNIC status and licence regularly at checkpoints to catch these culprits.

VILLAGE ROAD: The people of Bali Shah village, near Mehar in Dadu district, are suffering owing to the dilapidated condition of all the roads in and around the village. Most of them use rickshaws, motorcycles, cars and push-carts for their daily commute, and face enormous difficulties. The authorities must rebuild and expand the road from Bali Shah to Mehar via Radhan railway station to facilitate the commuters.
