THE GRAPEVINE

Back to Bollywood

Rumour has it (well, it’s almost confirmed now) that Fawad Khan will be seen in an Indian film soon. According to the bits and pieces of reports that we’ve received, he’ll be working opposite Vani Kapoor in a romantic drama. The story focuses on two ‘broken’ individuals who are trying to piece together their lives again. The movie is dubbed an ‘international project.’ Hmmm… Whenever there is a thaw in the tense relationship between India and Pakistan, we can only go ‘Awww…’

KRQ Gets His Just Desserts

Writer Khalil-ur-Rahman Qamar is in the habit of expressing his views on showbiz personalities without caring what others think about them. He recently said something nasty about both actors Saba Qamar and Naumaan Ijaz. While Saba Q didn’t deign to dignify KRQ’s misogynist remarks, to Naumaan I’s credit, he replied to the playwright’s hateful comments rather calmly: “Seeds always grow silently, but trees fall with a lot of noise. This means there is noise in destruction while creation happens quietly.” KRQ certainly deserves what he got. And the quiet slap is the loudest.

Money Talks

Aagha Ali is an actor who seems to have a lot to say about relationships (read: girls). For example, he believes that if one has money, one can get anything in the world, and that includes girls, because girls like moolah and luxury. By ‘one’ here we mean, if a boy has money. His advice: “Earn money, buy a house, a car, and then think about love and relationships.” And yes, he also reveals that, once upon a time, he was a playboy, but not anymore. This means, when he was a playboy, he must’ve been a rich playboy, because which girl would get close to a poor playboy… right, boy?

Kids and Care

Ace actress Sania Saeed ain’t happy about the way Pakistani society treats animals. She has got to the bottom of the issue which she recently discussed in an interview: “People don’t respect their kids. You cannot think that they will be empathetic towards animals either. Working for children and animals can be done simultaneously and this will make our society better.” Wise words, Sania S. Who’s listening, though?

Chor Uncle

Actor Imran Khan (Jaanay Bhi Do Yaro) is the nephew of Bollywood A-lister Aamir Khan. He was on a TV show where he was asked a question about his uncle, to which he responded with something that’s a bit weird. He said Aamir K has, or used to have, this habit of borrowing clothes and other stuff from his (Imran K’s) wardrobe — and sometimes he just nicked them. Wait a minute. This is actually not weird. The characters that he plays in his biggest movies are also nicked from different places — Forrest Gump, Mahavir Singh Phogat etc.

Singin’ Daddy

Pop star Zayn Malik and supermodel Gigi Hadid aren’t together anymore, but they still have a three-year-old daughter, Khai. Now that the baby girl is big enough to know what her parents do for a living, which means she knows that her dad is a singer, every time she hears a song being played, she asks, “Is my baba singing??” Cute. Soon, she will also realise that not every bad (or good) song is sung by her baba.
