SHANGLA: A man killed his wife over a petty issue in Bagyar area of Aloch in Puran tehsil here on Sunday night.

The police arrested the accused and his father and recovered the weapon used in the crime.

Aloch police station SHO Bakht Zeb Khan told Dawn that Iqbal Ahmad, 24, was married four years ago to the daughter of Gul Kareem.

He said the deceased was 15 years of age at the time of her marriage. The couple had no children.

The SHO said an FIR was registered on the complaint of the slain

woman’s father, Gul Kareem, who stated that his daughter always complained about being tortured physically by her husband for not having children.

He said on Sunday evening, when she sought permission from her husband that she wanted to visit relatives in Karachi for treatment, he turned down her request, which caused a brawl between them.

SHO Zeb said his daughter went onto the rooftop after the quarrel, and her husband chased here there. He said the accused took a weapon out and shot her dead.

The SHO said they had registered a case against the alleged killer, Iqbal Ahmad, and his father, Hokhyar Ahmad. He said they were produced before the district and sessions judge, who remanded them for further investigation.

DEVELOPMENT WORKS: The Chakesar tehsil council on Monday constituted a committee for monitoring the quality of work and progress on the projects, particularly two major roads.
