KARACHI: Residents of Karachi experienced another hot and humid day when the mercury soared to 40.3 degrees Celsius in the city with 66 per cent humidity recorded at 5pm on Tuesday.

The Met Office said that the sea breeze remained blocked the whole day under the influence of a weather system that also brought about drizzle over the city’s outskirts.

It said similar weather conditions are likely to persist on Wednesday (today).

The sea breeze is expected to resume on Thursday (tomorrow).

“A low pressure area has developed over Indian Gujarat and the Arabian Sea that has cut off the sea breeze, resulting in excessive heat in Karachi,” explained meteorologist Anjum Nazeer Zaigham.

The same system was expected to bring about rain on Friday and Saturday that would break the hot and humid spell, he added.

According to the Met department’s daily advisory, hot and humid weather is expected on Wednesday that might see isolated dust-thunderstorms/light rain on the city’s outskirts.

The maximum temperature is likely to range between 37°C and 39°C on Wednesday (today).
