ABBOTTABAD: A mentally challenged woman allegedly slit the throats of her three children, killing one of them, before cutting her own throat with a sharp knife in Musazai Colony in the limits of Nawan Shehr police station, here on Wednesday.

According to details, accused Hajra Bibi, wife of Wajid, came to her parents’ home in the afternoon in Musazai Colony, where she allegedly took the extreme action of cutting throats of three-year-old Abdul Hameed, five-year-old Abdul Hadi and eight-year-old Abdul Rafi Sham with a sharp knife.

She also cut her own throat after committing the crime.

Abdul Rifa died on the spot, while the accused woman and two others were shifted to Ayub Medical Complex in critical condition.

Accused Hajra Bibi is said to be living with her husband in the neighboring village of Nardaba. She was mentally disturbed after suffering from typhoid.

The hospital sources said that condition of the accused was out of danger. The Nawan Shehr police registered a case and took the accused Hajra Bibi into custody for further interrogation.
