PESHAWAR: Two persons were killed and another one injured as heavy torrential rain hit the provincial capital and several other areas on Wednesday evening.
Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) said the casulatiies were reported from Dalazak village of Shabqdar tehsil of Charsadda district, where a woman and a boy were killed while another woman was injured due to heavy rain and gusty winds.
Met department said the provincial capital received 40mm while Parachinar received 38mm and Balakot 1mm rain. It also predicated rain-wind/thundershower in isolated places in Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Malakand, Bajaur, Shangla, Battagram, Buner, Kohat, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Peshawar, Swabi, Mardan, Charsadda, Hangu, Kurram, Karak and Waziristan for Thursday night and Friday.
Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) said that the rain resulted in disruption of power supply to several areas across the province.
It said that besides Peshawar, the rain also resulted in disruption of power supply in Kohat, Mansehra and Charsadda districts.
It said that about 200 feeders tripped due to heavy rain and it took several hours to restore power supply.
