KASUR: A 13 years old boy was electrocuted while catching a stray kite at Basti Lal Shah on Sunday.

Muhammad Rehan, 13, rushed to catch a stray kite attached with a metal string. The metal string fell on the transmission line before Rehan caught it. According to eyewitnesses, as soon as Rehan caught the string, the wires caught fire with a bang, leaving Rehan seriously injured. He fell on the ground. When Rehan was shifted to DHQ Hospital, the doctors declared him dead.

District Police Officer Essa Khan Sukhaira reached the spot. Police also made announcements in the mosques warning people to avoid stray kites and twines.

The DPO said a crackdown on the manufacturers and sellers of kites and twines was carried out in the district.

Kasur is considered one of the main producers of kites and twines in the province.

ACCIDENT: A man and his wife were crushed to death by a speeding factory bus at village Kot Nanak Singh near Phoolnagar.

Mubarak Ali, 54, of Chunian along with his wife Mumtaz, 50, was on his way home from Phoolnagar. When they reached near Kot Nanak Singh, the speeding bus hit their bike. Ali and Mumtaz died on the spot after being crushed by the wheels of the bus. The driver of the bus escaped.
