RAWALPINDI: Four people, including three women, were killed and 10 others injured after a wagon they were traveling in plunged into a ravine near Kahuta on Sunday.

Three of the injured in critical condition were shifted to Rawalpindi while the others were being treated at the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Kahuta.

Police said the wagon carrying 14 people was going to Kahuta when it met with the accident. As a result, Maqsood Bibi, 65, Khurshid Begum, 60, Rukiya, 40, and Shafiullah Jan, 46, died on the spot.

DSP Kahuta Tahir Sikandar and SHO of the area along with Rescue 1122 staff reached the spot and shifted the bodies and injured to different hospitals.

According to police, the accident was caused by a brake failure; however, further investigation was underway.

Meanwhile, a 65-year-old man was shot dead by an unidentified person while he was asleep in his house located in Rawat.

Tanveer Khan lodged an FIR with the police stating that his father Khan Nazir was living in a separate house adjacent to his home. He said he rushed to his father’s house after hearing gunshots and found him dead on his bed.

According to an initial police report, Nazir was shot in the head and face. Police have registered a case and launched an investigation.
