KARACHI: Iran has agreed to Pakistan’s suggestion for a joint boundary commission to complete the demarcation of the Pakistan-Iran boundary on the Baluchistan frontier, it was learnt on Saturday [July 23] from usually reliable sources… . The frontier had been fully defined as far back as 1896 but only one-fourth of it had been demarcated. Marking of the remaining portion of the undemarcated boundary line will begin soon after the two Governments have recruited the technical personnel required… . The Anglo-Persian Boundary Commission appointed in 1895 … succeeded in demarcating only about 125 miles in the middle of the 500 mile-long Iran-Baluchistan frontier. — Staff correspondent.

[Meanwhile, according to news agencies from Jogjakarta,] Republican and Federal group leaders in Indonesia announced at the end of their two-day conference here today [July 23] that they had reached agreement on the creation of a United States of Indonesia, to be known as “The Republic of Indonesia Serikat”. During the interim period a provisional government and a provisional parliament will be set up to ensure stability.
