CHARSADDA: Two people were killed and three others injured when rival parties clashed over a brawl among their children in Rashakai area of Shabqadar tehsil here on Wednesday.

The police and residents said a fight between children of two families led to exchange of fire between their elders, resulting in killing of two persons, one from each side. Three others, two children among them, suffered injuries. The bodies and the injured were shifted to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital.

The deceased were identified as Azizullah and Kareem, while the injured included Raj Wali, Tallah and Atif.

Immediately after the incident, DSP Shabqadar Fazal Subhan Khan and Saro Kallay police station SHO Qaiser Khan reached the spot along with a contingent and arrested five persons involved in the firing, and recovered a Kalashnikov and two pistols from their possession.

The police registered cases into the firing incident on the complaints of people from both the sides, and started investigation.

Meanwhile, a man drowned in the Swat River near Tangi area here on Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Hameedullah, a resident of Kohat. Local divers started search to fish out the body.

DSP Tangi Zardad Khan and SHO Muzaffar Shah Khan also arrived at the scene to supervise the rescue operation.
