RAWALPINDI: Following imposition of Section 144 across Punjab province – police officials in the garrison city convened a session to review the law-and-order situation in the district and chalk out a security plan in response to Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s (PTI) protests across the country on Friday.

A police spokesperson said that the meeting was held under the chairmanship of Central Police Office (CPO) Khalid Hamdani.

Section 144 issued by the Punjab government will be enforced, said CPO Hamdani.

He further remarked that in the wake of the current situation in the country, no one will be allowed to take the law into their own hands and all resources will be utilised to ensure full implementation of law.

Man commits suicide

Unemployment and difficult financial conditions drove a young man to commit suicide by hanging with a piece of rope tied to the ceiling of his house in Dhoke Hassu, police said on Thursday. The victim was identified as 28-year-old Akhtar Ali.

The brother of the victim said in his initial statement to the police that his brother had been in distress due to unemployment. The dead body was shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital for postmortem.
