MUZAFFARGARH: A journalist from Gujranwala was killed here on Wednesday and his body was found in TP Link Canal.

An unidentified body was found in the canal. When police checked, they found the deceased’s CNIC, ATM card and press card of a news channel on him and he was identified as Rana Muhammad Naqeeb.

According to the FIR, Rana Naqeeb was brought to Khanewal by his friends, Basharat Ali, Sajid Ali, Liaqat Ali and Akbar, in a car. They said they were going for a property deal.

From Khanewal, Naqeeb contacted his wife Qamar Batool and told her that he was under threat as he was taken from Khanewal to Muzaffargarh forcibly. The call was dropped and the suspects snatched his cell phone from him.

The next day, he contacted his family from another phone and he told them he was in the Sultan Colony area of Muzaffargarh. He said the suspects were torturing him.

Naqeeb’s brother Sajid Manzoor reached Muzaffargarh on Wednesday evening. When he reached Sultan Colony area, he was informed that the body was being kept at THQ Hospital, Kot Addu.

The body was later handed over to him after post-mortem.
