SWABI: The local government representatives criticised the provincial government for not providing them with the development funds for undertaking the public welfare projects in their areas.

Speaking to local journalists after a gathering here on Thursday, they said, despite the fact that just one and half year of their constitutional tenure was left, they were still struggling to get funds for development works to meet expectations of their voters.

Swabi Mayor Attaullah Khan said that the entire country, including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, was passing through the severe financial crisis. He said that he would soon pay a visit to KP chief minister to discuss the matters confronting the local government’s representatives.

Various other members of the council said they were elected representatives of people of their areas, and their voters were waiting for their promises of development projects to be fulfilled.

ABDUCTED GIRL NOT FOUND: The district police have failed so far to recover an abducted girl during an incident on July 18, in which her parents were also murdered by killers in Gadoon Amazai area.

When contacted, the police official concerned said that they had raided various suspected areas but no arrest could be made in this regard.
