WASHINGTON: President Truman today [July 25] signed the official Instrument of ratification of the North Atlantic Pact, which was ratified by an overwhelming majority of the United States Senate last Thursday [July 21]. President Truman issued the following statement on occasion of the signing ceremony:

“The American people value peace and freedom above all things. Our ratification of the North Atlantic Pact, with the overwhelming support of the Senate and the people, shows our determination to preserve this peace and freedom. []This treaty is a historic step toward a world of peace, a free world, free from fear, but it is only one step. … [”] — News agencies

[According to news agencies in Karachi,] The Russian trade delegation … is expected in Karachi on Tuesday [July 26]… . The Russian trade delegation, first ever to visit this country, is expected to stay in Pakistan for about three weeks during which it will, besides negotiating a trade agreement with the Pakistan Government, visit important commercial and industrial centres with a view to gaining first-hand knowledge of trade conditions in Pakistan.
