SHANGLA: The dead bodies of three coal miners, who died after a coal pit collapsed in Khairabad area of Nowshera district, were brought to Shangla on Friday, raising the number of mines accidents’ victims to 12 during the current month.

According to residents of Dehrai union council of Alpuri tehsil, the three coal miners were buried alive when a portion of the mine collapsed on them. They hailed from Banjar Sar area of Dehrai union council.

The bodies of deceased Muhammad Azeem, Amen Ali and Bakht Zada, aged between 19 and 25 years, were brought to Shangla and buried in their ancestral graveyard.

PUBLIC SUPPORT: District Police Officer Imran Khan on Friday urged the residents of Puran and Martung tehsils to support police force in eliminating the subversive elements and maintaining law and order in the area.

He was addressing a meeting of local notables at police station Aloch, Puran. The Puran tehsil chairman, Abdul Maula, local notables and senior police officials also spoke on the occasion and shed light on the issues related to maintenance of law and order in the area.

DPO assured the notables that he would be personally available to them for assistance, and stressed that any information relating to the presence of anti-social elements should be supplied to the local police to curb the crimes.

PTI RALLY: The Pakistan Tehreek-I-Insaf (PTI) activists blocked the Bisham-Swat Road in Dehrai Alpuri and Puran Aloch and staged protest rallies in the wake of countrywide protest call given by the party’s central leadership.

The rallies were led by MPA Abdul Munim, Tehsil Bisham chairman Sadeed Ur Rehman, tehsil Alpuri and others. The protesters were carrying banners, flags and placards, demanding release of PTI founder Imran Khan from prison.
