QUETTA: Three people were killed and another was injured in a firing incident by unknown armed men in the Balgatar area of Panjgur district on Friday.

According to officials, four persons were travelling in a vehicle to Panjgur when unknown armed men ambushed them in tehsil Gwargo’s Balgatar area, opening indiscriminate fire with automatic weapons. The attackers were waiting in nearby munitions.

“Three persons received multiple bullet injuries and succumbed to their wounds on the spot, while another passenger was injured in the firing,” a senior police officer told Dawn. The bodies and the injured were shifted to District Hospital in Panjgur.

The deceased were identified as Muhammad Nasir, Muhammad Ishaq and Jumma.

The bodies were handed over to the heirs after completing medico-legal formalities. Police termed the incident as a target killing, and registered a case against unknown attackers. Further investigation is in progress.
