BAHAWALPUR; Vehari police claimed on Saturday to have recovered from Rawalpindi businessman Muhammad Sharif of Mailsi 10 hours after his alleged kidnapping for ransom.

According to PRO Adnan Tariq, Sharif’s son, Muneeb informed District Police Officer Mansoor Aman about the alleged abduction.

The kidnappers had sent a video of Sharif along with a ransom demand to Muneeb’s mobile phone. In response, the police formed a team and launched an operation.

Using geofencing and mobile tracking system, the police traced the culprits to Rawalpindi. The police team raided the identified location and successfully recovered Sharif. However, the suspects managed their escape and the Rawalpindi police have been asked to assist in their capture. The trading community welcomed the prompt police action.

BIKER KILLED: A motorcyclist was killed while seven people, including a girl, suffered injuries in two incidents.

In the first incident, a motorcyclist was killed while his two pillion riders were seriously injured when they were hit by a speeding Shahzore truck near village 5 on Head Rajkan road, Yazman, about 40-kms from here, on Saturday.

The body was handed over to the family while the injured were shifted to Yazman THQ hospital.

In the second incident of a roof collapse of a house at Jhangiwala bypass, five people, including a minor girl, were seriously injured. The girl was stated to be critical and was shifted to the emergency ward of Bahawal Victoria Hospital (BVH).
