MANSEHRA/CHITRAL: Three people, including a girl, were killed and six others sustained injuries in separate road accidents on Sunday.

Two people were killed and three others injured when a cab plunged into a deep ravine in Batrasi forest area of Mansehra.

The cab was on its way to Perhana from Garhi Habibullah. The accident occurred when the driver lost control over the vehicle while negotiating a sharp turn on the Kashmir Road.

Area residents rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to King Abdullah

Teaching Hospital, where doctors pronounced Haseeb Tanoli, 22, and his friend, Mohammad Kashif Tanoli alias Kashi, 30, as dead.

The injured persons, including Mujeebullah, Mohammad Mushtaq and Mohammad Qamar, were referred to Ayub Medical Complex Hospital, Abbottabad, where condition of all of them was stated to be out of danger.

The bodies were handed over to families after police completed the medico-legal formalities.

Meanwhile, a jeep going to Washich village in Upper Chitral from Chitral city fell into a gorge on Sunday morning, killing a minor girl and injuring three persons.

Rescue 1122 officials told Dawn that Shuaib Mir along with three members of his family was going to his Washich village in his jeep when it skidded off the road and fell onto the bank of the Chitral River.

They said that rescue teams shifted the three injured persons to the District Headquarters Hospital, and started search to recover the body of the minor girl, who drowned in the river.

Lower Chitral deputy commissioner Muhsin Iqbal directed the Rescue 1122 officials to accelerate efforts to ensure the recovery of the girl’s body.
