QUETTA: The Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP) has called upon the Balochistan police chief to book the officers who allegedly used force against the participants of a peaceful rally on July 11.

Addressing a presser on Saturday, VBMP chairman Nasarullah Baloch, vice chairman Mama Qadeer and Hurrian Baloch said women and children were also present at the rally and they were injured when the police allegedly resorted to violence.

They also demanded the formation of a judicial commission to unearth the facts behind the incident and warned that they would approach the high court and Supreme Court for justice if their demands were not fulfilled.

Mr Hurrian recalled that during their peaceful protest against enforced disappearances on July 11 they were moving from Sariab towards to Red Zone when they were subjected to violence.

Several people, including Mr Hurrian, were injured.

The previous day, Mr Hurrian, accompanied by her lawyers, went to the sessions court to file an FIR against police officers, but cops attempted to arrest her, claiming she had multiple cases registered against her.

The lawyers secured pre-arrest bail for her.

Despite the government’s promises to withdraw these cases during negotiations, the cases remain unresolved, leading to the arrest of 30 young people.

Mr Nasarullah also said that FIRs remain active, and peaceful protesters have been subjected to violence without any cases being filed against the responsible officers. They approached the sessions court for action against the police officers, but FIRs were not registered.

He demanded that the IGP lodge a case against the officers responsible for the violence and provide justice to them within 15 days.
