MARDAN: Central leader of Awami National Party Ameer Haider Khan Hoti has announced to strongly resist the provincial government’s plan to sell a piece of land of Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan.

He addressed a protest demonstration of his party followed by a crowded press conference held here on Monday in Mardan Press Club.

Mr Hoti condemned the decision of government to sell the land of Abdul Wali Khan University. “We will never allow the PTI provincial government to play with future of youth of Mardan district,” he added.

He also announced to convene a jirga of local elders, political leaders, lawyers, traders, journalists and civil society members on the issue.

He said that PTI leaders were claiming in past that they would not only impose education emergency in the country but also concert the houses of governors and chief ministers into universities. “Now Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur is going to sell the land and properties of educational institutions,” he added.

Mr Hoti said that the chief minister was claiming that they were selling the land owing to non-availability of funds for universities in the province.
